We love proper brain teasers. Do you?
For an existing marine vessel, we are looking for a proper replacement of the switches in the DC propulsion circuit. These switches are used in the DC propulsion circuit to open or close the connection between the DC propulsion motor (which power in the MW range) and the batteries. The existing switches are becoming less reliable and subjected to maintenance as these involve oldfashioned mechanical switchgear. These switches also result in significant arcs, which require robust shielding to contain the arcs and ventilation to extract the smoke and gases. Also, the closing of these mechanical contacts can be rather loud, which is undesirable during stealth missions due to an increase of the acoustic signature.
