The design of a new submarine, a major FPSO conversion or a complex system integration: At Nevesbu (part of Iv), you will work on projects that really matter. As a Senior Naval Architect, you will face technical challenges that even the most skilled engineers cannot answer immediately.
You will translate technical requirements into innovative, feasible designs and be responsible for the concept and basic design. Your stability, resistance, propulsion, weight management, and motion analysis calculations will form the basis for safe and efficient maritime designs. Your technical advice will help clients worldwide, including defence organisations, make well-founded decisions. Guiding younger Naval Architects in their development and ensuring knowledge is retained within the team will also be part of your role.
Collaboration is key in this role, but independence is equally important. You will work in a team of eighteen naval architects and interact daily with specialists from various disciplines to arrive at integral solutions. Depending on the project, you will lead a small Naval team of two to four engineers or fulfil a senior role in multidisciplinary projects.
Job Requirements
- A higher vocational/university level degree (HBO/WO) in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a similar field.
- At least five years' experience in naval architecture and performing naval engineering calculations.
- Experience with stability, resistance, propulsion and seaway.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Good communication skills in Dutch and/or English.
- Experience with NAPA, Hydrostar, Ansys Aqwa and programming skills in Python or Matlab is advantageous.
