Introduction
The larger projects for Nevesbu are usually large conversions of naval ships or offshore vessels. The input of Nevesbu focuses on the ship as a complete system. All disciplines play a role. For the project in Malaysia (currently up to date) is integrated with the ship designed by a host of new devices and systems including their controls and all electrical wiring on board by a team of 16 persons. For major contracts in the offshore Nevesbu does the constructive design of the interface with anchoring systems. In a team of 4 to 8 persons, there’s approximately 1500 tons of new steel defined.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Contributing to the design of mechanical systems and marine systems;
- Developing technical basis of design and basic designs;
- Carrying out calculations of mechanical equipment and components and of marine systems.
- Preparation of technical specifications and documentation of systems and equipment;
- Evaluation of available components and/or systems;
- Managing and guiding other employees in his team and/or the execution;
- Monitor man-hour budgets, planning and the quality of the project activities, to be carried out;
- Checking document-deliverables against the agreed requirements of customers and regulatory bodies and guarantee the quality required;
- Attend regular team meetings with colleagues from other disciplines within the project;
- Contribute to various project related discussions or meetings (internal and external);
- Keep and maintain contacts with customers and suppliers in consultation with the (Project) Management;
- Help improve the expertise within the company amongst others by:
- keeping abreast of discipline related developments, relevant software tools and general and specific work procedures,
- keeping abreast of available discipline related courses;
- Remaining in touch with quality procedures and work methods and instructing the designers assigned when necessary;
- Keeping project and general design files up to date.
Key requirements
- Completed TU/TH (MSc/BSc) diploma and relevant level of working, preferably Mechanical or Marine Systems Engineering;
- Good knowledge of and experience with relevant software applications (Microsoft applications and designing software, e.g. FE, dynamic analysis-software);
- Familiarity of working with technical standards, rules and regulations for mechanical and marine engineering.
- Good knowledge of (technical) English in both speaking and writing;
- Good team working and social skills;
- Flexible work attitude / immune to stress;
- Experience with engineering and calculations for mechanical equipment and systems. Experience gained within the Maritime Industry is an advantage.
